Haiti moves USMNT Nations League home leg to Miami

Haiti will host the United States at Nu Stadium in Miami on Nov. 14 in the first leg of their Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal, after Concacaf approved the Haitian Football Federation’s request to move the match from Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica. The second leg is scheduled for Nov. 17 at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, leaving both games on U.S. soil.

Concacaf approved an exceptional arrangement allowing Haiti’s national teams and clubs to play designated home matches in opponents’ countries while the security situation in Haiti persists. Each match requires separate approval, the opposing association’s agreement and confirmation that the stadium meets Concacaf guidelines. Haiti has been unable to play at home since July 2021, and gangs took over its national stadium in March 2024.

UEFA will have six places, while the AFC, CAF, Concacaf and CONMEBOL will each have three, and the OFC will have one. FIFA chief women’s football officer Sarai Bareman cited the country’s experience staging major tournaments, interest in women’s soccer and sporting infrastructure in explaining the choice.

FIFA matches men’s World Cup preparation funding for women in 2027

FIFA will provide each of the 32 teams at the 2027 Women’s World Cup with $2.5 million in preparation funding, matching the amount teams received for the 2026 men’s tournament. The amount is more than double the $960,000 provided to each team at the 2023 women’s tournament.

FIFA also said players will receive the same service levels as their male counterparts. The Guardian reported that players are guaranteed business-class or charter flights and individual hotel rooms. FIFA has not yet decided the tournament’s total prize fund.

CBS adds Spanish-language rights to Concacaf Champions Cup

CBS Sports will hold exclusive U.S. Spanish-language rights to the Concacaf Champions Cup, adding the package to its English-language rights. Paramount+ will stream every match in both languages beginning in February, according to CBS Sports and Concacaf.

Sportcal reported that the deals run through the 2030 campaign and cover all 51 matches each year. Select matches will also be available for free in Spanish and English on the CBS Sports app, and CBS will replace TUDN as the tournament’s U.S. Spanish-language broadcaster.

Tyler Adams helped Bournemouth secure a 3-0 Europa League win over AC Milan, drawing a penalty and getting Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan sent off, Soccer America reported. Yunus Musah played the full match for Milan, while Christian Pulisic stayed on the bench.

The Guardian reported that Maignan was dismissed after shoving Tyler Adams in the face during a corner. Marcus Tavernier converted the resulting penalty, and Amine Adli added a late free kick to complete the scoring.

USWNT legends urge Emma Hayes to focus on team chemistry

Former U.S. defender Becky Sauerbrunn said the national team should prioritize building chemistry ahead of next summer’s World Cup. On The Women’s Game podcast, Sam Mewis asked when it was time to focus on chemistry rather than depth; Sauerbrunn replied, “It’s probably yesterday.”

The comments followed the United States’ 2-0 loss and 2-2 draw against Spain in October friendlies. Sauerbrunn said injuries had forced coach Emma Hayes to try different combinations, but argued that the team should now identify its best partnerships and build experience together.

Former U.S. striker Eddie Johnson criticized Alexi Lalas in a social media post after Lalas defended Landon Donovan during a dispute over Johnson’s comments about Donovan’s career. Johnson said his original point was that people should stop criticizing former young players for not reaching their potential.
