Pragyan Ojha Takes Over India Selection Panel as Agarkar Departs
Plus Chinmay Sutar's 400 not out in the Ranji Trophy, Scott Boland's return in Gqeberha, and previews of India-New Zealand and England's ODI tri-series.

Ojha Steps In as India's Chief Selector
Pragyan Ojha has taken over as chairman of the men's senior national selection committee.
He inherits a panel that leaves a strong record behind, with three ICC trophies, two Asia Cups and back-to-back Asian Games golds achieved under the BCCI's own account of the previous tenure. Shiv Sundar Das will complete four years, the maximum permissible tenure for a selector, at the end of December.
Boland Strikes Twice as Rain Hits Gqeberha Test
Fewer than 13 overs were possible on the first day of the second Test between Australia and South Africa in Gqeberha because of rain. Scott Boland, back after a seven-month layoff, still made his mark, removing Aiden Markram and David Bedingham in the space of two balls to leave South Africa 20 for two.
Sutar Falls Two Short of Ranji Trophy Record
Chinmay Sutar, 29, scored 400 not out off 517 balls for Mizoram against Nagaland, hitting 46 fours and seven sixes as Mizoram declared at 581-9. Only BB Nimbalkar has scored more in a Ranji Trophy innings, with 443 not out in 1948.
It was only Sutar's second first-class match since he switched from Mumbai because he could not get a red-ball game there. He said he had no idea about the milestone while batting and was focused on helping No. 11 Lalrempuia Chhakchhuak, with whom he shared an unbroken last-wicket stand of 189.
Agha's Century Powers Pakistan Past Sri Lanka
Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 37 runs in the opening match of their one-day tri-series in Rawalpindi. Salman Agha scored 107 off 90 balls as Pakistan posted 305 in 49.5 overs, before Sri Lanka collapsed from a position of strength, losing their last five wickets for just 15 runs.
Plimmer Shines but Australia Extends Dominance Over New Zealand
Australia won the first women's T20I against New Zealand in North Sydney by two wickets in a tense chase. Georgia Plimmer made an unbeaten career-best 85 for the White Ferns, but Australia completed its 10th straight win over New Zealand in the format.
Brown Ruled Out for Entire WBBL Season
Darcie Brown will miss the entire Women's Big Bash League season because of a disc injury that has not healed after the Australia A tour of India. Cricket Australia said she is not ready to resume training, and the injury also ruled her out of the recent ODI series against Bangladesh and the T20I series against New Zealand, according to Cricket Addictor.
What's Ahead: India in New Zealand, England's ODI Tri-Series
India's tour of New Zealand begins October 22, comprising five T20Is, five ODIs and two Tests, broadcast live on Sony Sports Network and Sony LIV. Ravi Shastri said the whole tour of New Zealand is an important tour and that the full one and a half month is going to be critical because it will tell you where Indian cricket is going in the future.
England's ODI tri-series with Pakistan and Sri Lanka continues, with England facing Pakistan in Rawalpindi on October 20 and Sri Lanka on October 22. Both matches shift to Lahore later in the month before a final on October 31, building toward the 2027 World Cup.
Shastri Backs Bhuvneshwar's Recall
Shastri also backed Bhuvneshwar Kumar's recall to the T20I squad after a four-year absence, calling it a no-brainer given his IPL form with Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
