Welcome to Open Scoring MMA, episode 136 for November 1st, 2026. Today's show is brought to you by Dealophant, from the team behind Open Scoring MMA. More on them in a minute. DUKE: We've got a UFC 334 story breaking today, so let's start there. The Kayla Harrison versus Amanda Nunes bantamweight title fight at Madison Square Garden now has a backup fighter attached.
NORA: Joselyne Edwards, the Panamanian, she's the insurance policy if either Harrison or Nunes can't make it to November 14th. And the promotion doesn't take chances on a card like that. Too much riding on it to leave a vacancy open.
DUKE: The Reddit crowd is actually all over this one already.
NORA: Yeah, the MMA community on Reddit lit up the second the backup news dropped, mostly just excited that the fight's even closer to real now.
DUKE: Can't blame them. Harrison-Nunes has been the fight people wanted for years.
NORA: And now there's a name and a date locked, November 14th, UFC 334, Madison Square Garden.
DUKE: Alright, now on to the results, because UFC Vegas 123 gave us a wild Halloween card.
NORA: Start with the sentimental one. Julian Erosa retired on Saturday night.
DUKE: And he didn't just retire, he went out with a first round knockout over Jeong Yeong Lee.
NORA: He actually got rocked early, took a knockdown, and still came back with one counter right to end it.
DUKE: That's the most Erosa way possible to finish a career. Chaos into a highlight.
NORA: He told everyone beforehand win, lose or draw, this was it. He just made sure it was the good version.
DUKE: And people forget, Erosa's the guy who famously made Paddy Pimblett sick in the cage once.
NORA: The Baddy will appreciate that detail being remembered.
DUKE: Fitting final chapter for a guy who always brought action.
NORA: He earned a hundred thousand dollar bonus for it too, we'll get to that.
DUKE: Now the main event, and this one's got some heat around it. Tom Nolan finished Renato Moicano in the third round.
NORA: Biggest win of Nolan's career, extends his win streak to six.
DUKE: But the story isn't just the finish, it's referee Dan Miragliotta standing Moicano up when he was in a dominant position.
NORA: Moicano looked to have a real path to a big advantage on the ground, and the stand up completely flipped the fight.
DUKE: And Nolan made him pay, turned it into a vicious ground and pound finish after that.
NORA: Multiple pros reacted online, and the consensus is pretty brutal on the ref.
DUKE: One report quoted it as, quote, the ref won that one, end quote, and that's basically the sentiment across the board.
NORA: Nolan still had to finish the job. He showed good defense surviving those submission attempts early.
DUKE: Sure, but you can't ignore that the stoppage decision changed the entire complexion of the fight.
NORA: No argument there. It's a legitimate win for Nolan, but it's going to have an asterisk in every recap for a while.
DUKE: One more from the card, Jacobe Smith stayed unbeaten.
NORA: He bloodied Randy Brown and ground him out over three rounds for a decision.
DUKE: Not a highlight finish, but control like that against a veteran like Brown matters for his stock.
NORA: Smith's building a résumé of just beating people up methodically.
Quick break for our sponsor. Dealophant shows the real price per unit on everyday Amazon buys, so you stop overpaying for the big box. NORA: Aljamain Sterling and Kevin Vallejos are already trading barbs, and that fight's not until November 21st in Doha.
DUKE: That's a featherweight fight that could shake up the division, and they're already provoking each other weeks out.
NORA: Sterling's a former champion, so any hostility from him toward a rising name like Vallejos gets attention fast.
DUKE: I like it. Bad blood before the bout usually means they both mean it once the cage door shuts.
NORA: We'll see if the talk matches the fight on November 21st.
DUKE: Now over to the business side of things. November's a loaded month for the UFC.
NORA: It kicks off this Saturday with a Fight Night, then UFC 334 at Madison Square Garden with two title fights, then closes out with a return to Qatar.
DUKE: Three premier events to close the month, that's a heavy stretch for the promotion.
NORA: And that's on top of everything else already on the books for December and January.
DUKE: Speaking of keeping up with everything, that's exactly why we're building out the YouTube side of this show.
NORA: Breaking news alerts, fight breakdowns, videos, stuff you're not getting just on the feed.
DUKE: If you only catch us here, you're missing half of it. Go find us there too.
NORA: According to reports, four fighters picked up an extra hundred thousand dollars, and Julian Erosa capped his career with one of those bonuses.
DUKE: Best way possible to close a UFC run. Money and a knockout.
NORA: Let's look ahead now, because the schedule's absolutely stacked. Six days out, this Saturday, it's Johnny Walker against Waldo Cortes Acosta.
DUKE: That's a big main event for a Fight Night card.
NORA: It really is. Walker against Cortes Acosta is a real light heavyweight clash, that's a fight with title implications depending how it goes.
DUKE: Then the following week, November 14th, UFC 334 at Madison Square Garden. Ciryl Gane headlines against Josh Hokit. Two massive fights on one card. That's as good as it gets for a single night.
NORA: After that it's Jiří Procházka against Navajo Stirling on November 21st, with Aljamain Sterling and Kevin Vallejos in the co-main.
DUKE: Either way, that's a huge stretch of fights coming up fast.
NORA: It really is. From this Saturday straight through Madison Square Garden, the division's about to look a lot different.
DUKE: Alright, that's gonna do it for us today.
