Raul Rosas Jr. closed the show late at UFC Vegas 121, and the promotion says Raoni Barcelos is alert and stable after a hospital trip.

Raul Rosas Jr. stopped Raoni Barcelos via knockout in the main event of UFC Vegas 121 at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, finishing the fight in round five at 1:38. MMA Weekly called it one of the scariest knockouts in UFC history, and the finish immediately sent the broadcast into a medical situation ringside.

Barcelos was taken straight to a Level 1 trauma center for evaluation. According to the UFC's own statement, doctors ran a CT scan and a full assessment, and he is currently stable, alert and responsive with full movement while he remains under medical supervision.

He wasn't the only one who needed a trip to the hospital. Yahoo Sports reported that four fighters from the card were transported for precautionary evaluations after the amount of damage handed out across the night's bouts.

The result matters for the bantamweight picture. Rosas Jr., ranked twelfth in the division, moves past the thirteenth ranked Barcelos, who had an eighteen year age gap with his younger opponent going into the fight. Our Elo model has Rosas Jr. at 1590 across nine tracked bouts, ahead of Barcelos' 1546 over the same sample size, and this win should push that number further in his favor. Rosas Jr. remains notable as the youngest fighter in UFC history to earn a contract, doing so at just 17 years old off a Contender Series win, and he keeps building his case for a run at the bantamweight title picture with this finish.

Fans have already started digging through the fifth round finish in a spoiler thread on r/MMA, though the bigger story heading into Sunday is simply how Barcelos is doing after the hospital visit.

The UFC has not released further updates beyond confirming his stable condition.
