Josh Hokit is never one to let a chance to poke at Alex Pereira slide, and according to LowKick MMA, he is at it again, this time taking aim at Pereira's BBL crew and calling the whole operation auraless.
The jab lands at an interesting moment for both men. Hokit, who sits at number four in our heavyweight rankings, is coming off a statement win, stopping Derrick Lewis with punches in the second round at 4:09 on June 14. That same night, Pereira, ranked third at light heavyweight, was on the other end of a knockout loss to Ciryl Gane, who finished him with punches in round two at 1:27.
Now Hokit is set to share the cage with the very man who put Pereira away. Our own model is not much kinder, giving Hokit a 29 percent shot at lean confidence. Our Elo numbers tell a similar story, with Hokit sitting at 1609 across five tracked bouts compared to Pereira's 1571 over ten.
That gap between the two men's resumes is part of why Hokit keeps jabbing at Pereira's camp rather than letting the rivalry cool off. Beating Lewis on the same card where Pereira went down swinging gave Hokit fresh ammunition, and he is clearly not interested in putting it away. Whether he can back up the talk against Gane in November is a different question entirely, but for now the war of words with Pereira's corner shows no signs of slowing.
