Jon Jones believes his win over Stipe Miocic was the perfect way to close out his career, but he's not entirely at peace with how things played out. Speaking to multiple outlets, Jones admitted that missing the UFC's White House event ranks among his biggest regrets, even as he insists retirement suits him. 'But if I never fight again, I think I'm pretty damn happy,' he said.
Jones believes Hokit has a legitimate shot at dethroning Gane, though he flagged a catch to go along with that endorsement.
The numbers make it a tough ask on paper. Gane is a minus 255 favorite to Hokit's plus 215, and our own model leans heavily toward the champion at 71 percent. Hokit sits at 29 percent in that same projection, a sizable gap for a fighter ranked fourth at heavyweight.
On our Elo board, Gane rates 1559 across four tracked bouts, while Hokit actually edges him at 1609 built from five. It is a small sample for both men, but it is exactly the kind of gap that feeds Jones's belief that his teammate belongs in that cage.
