Dana White isn't losing sleep over Sean Strickland's latest round of complaints. Last week Strickland aired a list of grievances about his UFC pay, tied to stalled negotiations for his proposed title defense against Nassourdine Imavov, and said he wouldn't defend the belt until things got sorted.
White addressed it directly with The Mac Life, saying he hasn't spoken to Strickland personally and has only seen the complaints through social media. His main pushback is about timing and numbers. "Sean Strickland just signed a new contract in May," White said. "He got a whole new deal in May. So it is what it is."
White also disputed the figure Strickland has been citing publicly. "And from what I hear, the number he's putting out there, it's not true. The number that he claimed he made is not true," he said. Speaking to Bloody Elbow, White added a bit of trademark exasperation: "When isn't Sean Strickland upset about something or doesn't have something to say?"
The timing lines up with Strickland's own schedule. He beat Khamzat Chimaev by split decision in May to reclaim the middleweight title, and according to White, signed his new deal around that same month. For now, that fight looks stuck. White's comments suggest the promotion has no plans to budge on money, and Strickland has already said he won't budge on defending without a resolution. The standoff is the talk of r/MMA, where fans are picking apart White's response and debating who's got the stronger case.
