Bishop Survives Near-Finish, Outlasts Carmouche to Grab PFL Gold

Jena Bishop is scheduled to fight Liz Carmouche on October 16, 2026, at Wintrust Arena for the PFL Women World title.

Jena Bishop is your new PFL women's flyweight champion, and she had to survive a near-finish to get there. Liz Carmouche, who had knocked Bishop out in the 2025 PFL World Tournament, nearly closed the show again early, pinning Bishop in trouble in round one. Bishop dug out of it, reversed position with a takedown into back mount, and from there started stacking rounds.

Bishop later said she fought through four bouts carrying an adductor and abdominal tear before finally healing up in camp for this rematch, which makes the comeback hit different. Carmouche shaved her head just to make weight and came in as the heavy favorite off that previous knockout, so this was as much an upset as it was a receipt. Dakota Ditcheva wasted no time afterward, calling for her title shot and naming February or March as the window. That fight now becomes the biggest thing in the division.

Timur Khizriev got through Gabriel Braga by split decision in 2024 in his first fight back after a lengthy layoff, and it was not easy. Braga dropped him in the second round, twice, and Khizriev still found a way to grind out a 29-28, 29-28, 28-29 verdict by controlling where the fight happened everywhere else. That kind of resilience after eating real shots says plenty about where his featherweight run goes from here.

Sarvarjon Khamidov needed only 1:49 of the first round to put away Rafael do Nascimento, dropping him with a short left hook before closing the show with follow-up punches. Clean, fast, exactly the kind of finish that gets you a highlight package and a bigger name next time out.

Eliezer Kubanza stopped Trey Waters with a knockout and didn't waste any time afterward either, calling out welterweight champion Thad Jean on the spot. Whether PFL gives him that fight next or makes him earn one more step first, Kubanza clearly believes he's already there.

Shannon Clark had to work for hers, rallying against Lucero Acosta before finishing the fight with elbows at 1:59 of the third round. That's a come-from-behind finish, not a dominant one wire to wire, and it's the kind of result that builds a fighter's reputation for finishing instincts late in fights.

Down on the lightweight portion of the card, Kevin Pease got the submission win over Cassio Barao, with the finish coming via rear-naked choke in the opening round after Pease worked his way to the back.
