Jake Paul Set to Face Cedric Doumbe on Christmas Eve in Dubai

Jake Paul returns to the ring December 24 against PFL fighter and former two time Glory kickboxing champion Cedric Doumbe in Dubai.

Jake Paul has his next opponent, and it's a name that comes from a different combat sport entirely. MVP announced Monday that Paul will face Cedric Doumbe on December 24 at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, marking Paul's return to the boxing ring.

Both Sherdog and MMA Fighting confirmed the matchup and date, with MMA Fighting adding the specifics on how the bout will be contested. Paul vs. Doumbe is set for eight rounds at cruiserweight, with both fighters weighing in at 200 pounds and wearing 10 ounce gloves.

Doumbe brings a different kind of resume to the table than Paul's usual opposition. He's a former two time Glory kickboxing champion who has also competed in PFL, giving him legitimate striking pedigree even if the boxing ring isn't his native environment. That combination makes him a notably different puzzle for Paul than the mix of retired boxers, MMA names and internet personalities he's fought in the past.

Broadcast details for the December 24 card have not yet been announced, so how fans in the United States and elsewhere will be able to watch remains an open question for now. Staging the event in Dubai is itself a shift for Paul, who has largely built his boxing career around major American markets.

The timing also means Paul will be fighting on Christmas Eve, a date that isn't typically occupied by major combat sports cards, which could make the Coca-Cola Arena show a standalone holiday spectacle rather than one competing with other year end fight cards.

With the opponent and rules now locked in, attention turns to how Paul's team and Doumbe's camp will approach fight week and whether more undercard and broadcast news follows in the coming weeks.
