UFC Vegas 123 handed out four $100,000 bonuses following Saturday's card at Meta Apex in Las Vegas, and two of the names stood out for very different reasons.
Tom Nolan took Performance of the Night honors after finishing Renato Moicano with elbows in the third round, stopping him at 1:28. Nolan, ranked number 14 at lightweight, now sits at 1578 on our Elo rating built from seven bouts, and this latest knockout only adds to his case as one of the division's more dangerous finishers.
The bigger story, though, belonged to Julian Erosa. He closed out his retirement fight with a first round knockout of JeongYeong Lee, dropping him with a punch at 1:31, and the win came with a $100,000 bonus attached. Erosa's Elo rating sits at 1520 from seven bouts in our tracker, numbers that will now stand as part of how his career gets remembered.
Both Yahoo Sports and Sherdog confirmed Erosa's bonus, with Sherdog noting that his retirement outing just got a lot sweeter thanks to the extra payday. It is the kind of ending fighters hope for but rarely get, a dominant finish and a six figure check on the way out the door.
For Nolan, the bonus is less about closure and more about momentum. A third round stoppage over Moicano is a notable result for a fighter already sitting in the top fifteen at 155 pounds, and it should keep him moving toward tougher names in a crowded lightweight pack.
The UFC did not shy away from rewarding them.
