Welcome to Open Scoring MMA. This is episode 114 for October 10th, 2026, your daily look at what's happening now and next across the world of MMA and UFC. DUKE: We've got results rolling in right now from the Meta Apex, UFC Fight Night: Allen vs Duncan is underway, and Brendan Allen and Christian Leroy Duncan are in the main event.
NORA: This is Allen's fight to lose on paper. He's main eventing against Christian Leroy Duncan.
DUKE: And it's Duncan's first time ever on the marquee.
NORA: Right, so there's a stage factor here too.
DUKE: Prelims and main card results are both live as we speak.
NORA: We've also got full scorecards up for the completed bouts on the prelims.
DUKE: Allen has been here before, main eventing a handful of Fight Night cards, and a win tonight puts him right back in that logjam below the champion.
NORA: And a statement win for either guy tonight changes how the division talks about them going into twenty twenty seven.
DUKE: Big stakes for a Fight Night main event.
NORA: Bigger than usual, yeah.
DUKE: Now on to the card news, because the lead up to this one was a mess at weigh ins.
NORA: Three fighters missed weight on Friday, and it wasn't small misses either.
DUKE: Ismael Bonfim came in at a hundred sixty three and a half pounds for a hundred fifty six pound lightweight limit against Francisco Prado.
NORA: That's seven and a half pounds over. His team explained the miss, and thankfully the bout is still happening.
DUKE: Seven and a half pounds, that's basically a whole weight class.
NORA: It really is.
DUKE: And on top of that, a big contingent of Brazilian fighters stepped on the scale, and three of them missed.
NORA: All of those fights are still confirmed to go forward, which tells you the UFC just wants the card intact more than it wants to punish anybody.
DUKE: Dana White's also got opinions outside the cage tonight. He shot down Sean Strickland's callout of boxer Jai Opetaia.
NORA: White doesn't love seeing his fighters jump to boxing in general, and he named a massive name as Opetaia's potential next fight.
DUKE: Strickland wants to test himself in the ring, White wants him focused on the cage. Classic tug of war. Switching continents, PFL Africa 3 weigh ins are done, and that sets the twenty twenty six playoffs.
NORA: This is part of a bigger push to grow the sport in a region the UFC's largely ignored, despite having African born champions on its own roster.
DUKE: It's a good look for the PFL honestly.
NORA: It is. Meanwhile over in bare knuckle, BKB 60 had its own weigh ins, Rolando Dy and Scott McHugh both hit a buck fifty three for their super welterweight clash.
DUKE: Dy is fighting for a championship.
NORA: He told LowKick MMA that he is coming to retain his championship and put on a great show.
DUKE: Now on to the fighter news, and this one's a gut punch for heavyweight fans. Jon Jones is talking about his future after Tom Aspinall vacated the title.
NORA: He says he's keeping his options open, but he believes he's likely done fighting, and he admits some regret.
DUKE: That's a strange way to end an era, just kind of drifting toward the exit instead of one last defining fight.
NORA: It's messy up there right now.
DUKE: Very messy.
NORA: Jones wants to prioritize training for an actual MMA transition.
DUKE: Jones was a four-time IBJJF world champion and was the UFC BJJ bantamweight champion, so this is him walking away from a sure thing to chase something a lot harder.
NORA: That's a real leap of faith.
DUKE: It is, but grapplers that good making the MMA jump usually have one gaping hole, the striking, and we just don't know yet with Jones.
NORA: Now on to the callouts, and Chris Weidman's got a strong opinion on where Alex Pereira belongs.
DUKE: The former middleweight champion believes two hundred five is the right home for Pereira, not heavyweight, not middleweight.
NORA: Weidman would know, he's seen both sides of Pereira's path up through the weights.
DUKE: Pereira's whole career arc has been about finding the division where his power and his cardio line up best, and Weidman's basically saying light heavyweight is already proven as that spot.
NORA: Hard to argue when you look at what Pereira's already done at two oh five.
DUKE: Exactly, the track record speaks for itself there.
NORA: Now on to the business side, and Sean Strickland is not happy with his money situation.
DUKE: He claims the UFC used his title shot as leverage to lock him into a six fight deal.
NORA: That's a serious accusation.
DUKE: He told fans he felt like he wouldn't get another crack at the belt unless he signed on, essentially strong armed into it.
NORA: Daniel Cormier came out in his corner on this too.
DUKE: Cormier said he empathizes with Strickland's situation and hopes both sides work it out before anything drastic happens.
NORA: And Brendan Schaub weighed in as well, sympathetic to Strickland but still a little more measured about it.
DUKE: According to Brendan Schaub, he gets where Strickland's coming from, but he's not going all in on the UFC being the villain here the way Strickland's framing it.
NORA: That's three names, Cormier, Schaub, and Strickland himself, all talking about the same contract fight. That's not nothing.
DUKE: It's not. When three people with that much UFC history are all talking pay structure in the same week, that's a story that isn't going away quietly.
NORA: The Pereira stuff and the Strickland stuff are kind of connected too honestly, these are the guys carrying the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions and they're both in flux right now. Looking ahead, Dana White's Contender Series rolls on Tuesday with Ilias Bulaid facing Erick Visconde. That's gonna do it for us today.
One more thing before we go. Chris Weidman says Alex Pereira belongs at light heavyweight for good. Is this the right era for that move, or does the middleweight money fight still make more sense?
